MIAM (Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting)

MIAM (Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting)

A MIAM is the initial meeting that will be held with our mediator.

This meeting is an opportunity for you to outline your situation and the issues that you wish to be resolved through your mediation sessions.

The session lasts 1 hour and it is important for the mediator to get a clear view in order to decide whether your case is suitable for mediation.

You can then decide if mediation is the right course of action for you or whether other options to resolve your disputes are to be explored.

As mediators we work alongside other trusted organisations who we may refer you to if support is needed outside of our offerings, such as debt advice for example.

An important part of this process is also to guide you on the well-being of any children involved and discuss how to come to agreeable decisions in the short-term.

Attending a MIAM is a legal requirement for both parties if you wish to present your case to Court.
